Tel Aviv District Court sentenced a Ghana national to 25 years in prison for raping four Israeli women and infecting three of them with AIDS.
Chris Sarfo was convicted of violently raping three women and acts liable to transmit the AIDS virus.
Sarfo was also convicted of raping an Israeli woman with whom he had a four-month relationship.
The judges said Sarfo had an "appalling lack of concern" and reject his request to lighten his sentence due to the fact that he carries the AIDS virus.
The judges also called for a change in the current legislation, which allows a maximum sentence of just seven years for those who transmit AIDS. In the United States, the transmission of AIDS is considered attempted murder.
Sarfo, who entered Israel in 1992, had relationships with four women who filed complaints against him between 1997 and 2002. Three of the complainants are today AIDS patients, Haaretz reports.
