Russia Welcomes United Front In Kabul

The Russian foreign ministry has welcomed the seizure of Kabul by the United Front, regarding this event as a major achievement of the anti-Taliban coalition. "That the Taliban have surrendered Kabul is evidence of the serious damage incurred by them as a result of the anti-terrorist operation and the United Front's attacks," says the Russian foreign ministry statement. The recent developments in Afghanistan have enhanced settlement prospects. "The Russian side is firm in its stand that this settlement could be largely promoted by the formation of a government, including representatives of all peoples and confessions of Afghanistan, except the Taliban who have tainted themselves by connections with international terrorism and drug trade."
