On Wednesday the State Duma (the lower chamber of Russian parliament) has sent parliamentary interpellations to Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov and Prosecutor General Vladimir Ustinov regarding media reports on alleged recruitments of Russian nationals for the Afghanistan military operation. The RIA Novosti correspondent reports that parliamentarians ask the premier and the prosecutor general to issue explanations concerning Russia's official position on the matter of mercenariness. Also, in the interpellation to Vladimir Ustinov parliamentarians ask for an official explanation from the main military prosecutor's office on the responsibility of Russian retired servicemen for a possible participation as mercenaries in military operations beyond the Russian frontiers.
