Building Russian Humanitarian Base In Kabul

A place for building the humanitarian base of the emergencies ministry has been chosen in Kabul. When the ministry's field engineers became certain that it is safe, work began there for building the base. The humanitarian base is meant for the delivery and distribution of Russian and international humanitarian assistance to the population of Afghanistan. The base will be self-sufficient, including energy supply and bread baking. The emergencies ministry operative group will also build the field hospital of the all-Russian centre of medicine and catastrophes. A total of 59 railway cars and 13 trucks with foodstuffs, medicines, clothes, tents and equipment have been sent to Afghanistan from various Russian regions. At present 32 cars and eight trucks have already arrived in Dushanbe. The cargoes delivered are kept, in coordination with the Afghan embassy to Tajikistan, in the Tajik emergencies ministry's warehouses for the time being. Two Mi-8 helicopters and one Mi-26 helicopter are to arrive in Dushanbe to deliver the Russian and international humanitarian aid to Bahram and Kabul.
