Telephone Communication Restored In Chechnya

Telephone exchanges with a total capacity of about 5,000 numbers have resumed operation in the administrative centres of nine districts in Chechnya. Trunk-call offices have been built in an absolute majority of Chechen administrative district centres. Besides, 172 communication channels, including satellite communication channels, have been put into operation since the beginning of this year to serve administrative bodies and the population of Chechnya, as well as troops and special services deployed on its territory. These figures and facts were made public at a session of the Russian Ministry of Communications' Board, held on Thursday in Krasnodar, south Russia. The session discussed the restoration of communications in Chechnya.
