The Northern Alliance began Thursday to lift its troops to the south of Afghanistan. According to a RIA Novosti correspondent referring to the SPA agency of Saudi Arabia, an army group formed in Shindand, western Afghanistan, is heading for Kandahar and the Helmand province where the local Pashtun tribes have been fighting against the Taliban for three days now. These Pashtuns are only armed with small arms and grenade launchers and have no armored vehicles or artillery at their disposal.
