Israeli army units once again entered the Arab Beit-Hanoun township in the early hours of December 15; that township is located in the Gaza strip's northern sector. Israeli soldiers surrounded the house of Palestinian national Salakh Shakhed, who serves as commander with the radical HAMAS Islamic organization, subsequently arresting him. Loud-speakers exhorted local residents in Arabic to stay home and not to interfere. Nonetheless, four Palestinians were injured during a shoot-out. The operation also involved 15 tanks, as well as helicopters serving with the Israeli air force.
