Afghan President Ready To Okay Appointment Of Any Of The Four Nominees As Ad-hoc Administration Chief

Recognised by the United Nations as the president of Afghanistan, Burhanuddin Rabbani agrees with the appointment of any of the four candidates to the post of the chief of the ad-hoc administration of Afghanistan. This was reported on Monday by the Indian mass media with reference to the statement by his representative Sayed Najibullah Hashimi. He said that Rabbani has agreed to all proposals of the United Nations and empowered his delegation in Bonn to elect one of the four candidates to the post of head of the ad-hoc government of Afghanistan. Among them Hashimi called Pashtu leader Hamid Karzai; ex-president Sibgatulla Mojaddadi, an ethnic Tajik; former justice minister under the royal regime Abdul Sattar Sirat, ethnic Uzbek; and Pashtu spiritual leader Sayed Ahmad Gilani. Hashimi also observed that Rabbani has taken the decision after a meeting in Kabul with the leaders of the Northern Alliance. Meanwhile, on information from Pakistan Sibgatulla Mojaddadi arrived there on Monday to discuss with its leadership a political future for Afghanistan. Mojaddadi, who is the leader of the National Liberation Front of Afghanistan, has lived in Denmark in the last five years.
