President Vladimir Putin of Russia has said the situation in the Chechen Republic has improved markedly. The Chechen people has chosen a peaceful and decent life, the Russian president said in an interview with the Greek Eleftherotypia and To Vima newspapers, the text of which was circulated by the president press office. The terrorists are not merely blockaded in a military sense of the word. They are in a moral isolation, said the president. What is more important, however, people are feeling different, they are getting increasingly confident of their own power, said the Russian president.
