Investigative team working on the Grozny blast considers four main versions, declared Deputy General Public Prosecutor of the Russian Federation Sergey Fridinsky.
“Today, investigation has four main versions of the incident. In short, the terrorist act was committed in order to destabilize the republic during holidays and to make people fearful. Secondly, terrorists intended to assassinate the governing elite of the Republic of Chechnya,” said Fridinsky.
He demonstrated before journalists unused explosives which had been found on the spot. Those were a missile and a plastic bottle containing explosives. “Had three more blasts occurred, consequences would have been far more dreadful,” remarked Fridinsky.
Seven people, including President of Chechnya Akhamd Kadyrov and chairman of Chechen State Council Hussein Isaev have died as a result of the explosion at a sport stadium in Grozny on May 9th. Commander of the Army in Northern Caucasus, Colonel-General Valery Baranov was seriously injured.
