Russian Yelena Dementyeva Reaches Second Round of Tokyo Tennis Tournament

Russian Yelena Dementyeva has reached the second round of the Toray Pan Pacific Open that is being held in Tokyo. Ranked 19th in the Women's Tennis Association /WTA/, on Tuesday she outplayed Meghann Shaughnessy, a skilful American player, 7:5, 6:2.

Yelena Dementyeva's next opponent at the tournament in Tokyo, prize money equal to $1.3 mln, will be French Stephanie Cohen Aloro, a qualifier. On Tuesday, Cohen Aloro inflicted an unexpected defeat upon another Russian representative Tatyana Panova, winning in the first round 6:0, 6:3.
