President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will pay an official visit to Russia in the first quarter of 2002, RIA Novosti was told at the embassy of Belarus to Russia on Monday. This will be the first official visit of Lukashenko to Russia after he was elected Belarussian president last September. On December 26 Lukashenko will arrive in Moscow on a working visit where, as chairman of the Higher State Council, he will hold a regular session of this highest body of the Russia-Belarus union state. The previous working visit of Lukashenko to Moscow took place on November 28-30 during which he held negotiations with the Russian leaders and took part in the CIS jubilee summit.
