Floods to displace 5 million Europeans

An unnerving conclusion has been drawn by the European Commission's Joint Research Centre. By the end of the century homes of five million European residents will have been under water because of widespread flooding.

According to experts, the level of water will mount by 60-80cm. Most of all, it threatens the North and Baltic Seas, as well as the Atlantic coastal area of Great Britain and Ireland.

Flooding will bypass Russia and the Netherlands though because of specially placed system of floodgates. As Pravda.Ru reported, before that, researchers had warned that flooding threatened as many as 33 regions in Italy.
