Swedish Week to Begin in St. Petersburg on April 25

A Swedish Week will be held in St. Petersburg on April 25-30. This was announced yesterday at the International Press Centre by Swedish Consul General in St. Petersburg May Andersson. 'We have planned a lot of events for these days and hope that everyone finds something to their taste,' she said.

According to Andersson, there will be a celebratory concert in the Hermitage on April 25, in which Swedish conductor Mats Liljefors will lead the State Hermitage Orchestra. For those with more modern tastes, there will be street dance and break dance displays at local club Par.spb.

The Peter and Paul Cathedral will play host to a photography exhibition called Swedish St. Petersburg, and festivals of Swedish theatre and cinema will take place between April 25 and 30. During this period, St. Petersburg State University of Technology and Design will display an exhibition of industrial design called Swedish Inventions, which will demonstrate the driving force behind Swedish inventions that have received international fame. This exhibition will run parallel to another entitled 'Creativity and Innovation in St. Petersburg and Stockholm: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow'.

The Swedish Week will also feature myriad other events, including seminars, exhibitions and performances.
