John MacPhil: Whoopie Goldberg fired for making anti-Bush comments RESPONSE

In response to "Whoopie Goldberg fired for making anti-Bush comments" and "Whoopie Goldberg in the news again" by Michael Berglin.

"Goldberg appeared at Thursday's star-studded John Kerry benefit at Radio City Music Hall in New York waving a bottle of wine while firing off a stream of sexual wordplays on Bush's name in a riff about female genitalia."

"The company said in a statement that Ms. Goldberg's monologue 'does not reflect the views and values of Slim-Fast,' Agence France-Presse reports. 'We are disappointed by the manner in which Ms. Goldberg chose to express herself, and
sincerely regret that her recent remarks offended some of our consumers,' the company said in a statement. 'Ads featuring Ms. Goldberg will no longer be on the air.'"

"Slim-Fast founder F. Daniel Abraham, who sold the company to Unilever in 2000, is a major donor to Democrats and has given $2,000 to Kerry this year."

First, these are all quotes by major news sources and Slim-Fast officials. Next, you may notice the action was taken as a result of "consumer" outcry. Slim-Fast made no reference to a political party. Lastly, notice the political position of F. Daniel Abraham.

In Whoopi Goldberg's verbal flailings', she has failed to realize that the American people are becoming fed up with those who publicly abuse our freedom of speech and attempt to destroy our integrity. We are beginning to hold these people accountable for their actions. The actions of these people do not represent the mainstream of America and we resent the reference that they do. As a consumer, this is not a political issue as Mr. Berglin and multiple media sources have inferred. We are fed up with the spit and spin of our media, movie stars, producers, and political parties who seem intent on reducing this country to a pig sty.  We are realizing we now have the means, through the internet, of quickly organizing and expressing our outrage to threaten the pocketbooks of those who sponsor this kind of behavior.
