Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Mexico's President Vicente Fox Quesada in Shanghai on Friday. They discussed the international community's joint efforts to combat terrorism, and Russian-Mexican cooperation within the frameworks of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, a spokesman for the Kremlin administration has said. In 2002, Mexico will take over as APEC chairman, and the next APEC forum will be held in that country. The Mexican president expressed hope that Vladimir Putin will attend it. The two presidents also discussed trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. Putin invited his Mexican counterpart to visit Moscow.
