The Taliban refuse to accept groups of volunteers formed by Pakistani religious organisations working in areas near the border with Afghanistan, which are populated mainly by the Pashtuns. However, the Taliban ask them to be ready to help if need be, said Sufi Mohammad, a leader of one such organisation, at a meeting of support on Thursday. According to Sufi Mohammad, a group of 3,000 men ready to cross the border and fight with their "Afghan brother" has been formed in the autonomous area of Bajaur next to the Afghan border.
