Russian President Vladimir Putin has pointed to positive changes in Moldavia's economy over the past six months. He was speaking at a news conference after Russian-Moldavian negotiations in the Kremlin. The Russian president also emphasised that "fears felt by some experts following the takeover of power in Moldavia by left-wing forces failed to materialise". Putin indicated, moreover, that fears of experts about a possible resurgence of a planned economy in Moldavia did not materialise either. "This did not happen, on the contrary market mechanisms are consolidating, backlogs are being cleared up, and administration is being strengthened," Putin noted. He also emphasised that Russia will continue to cooperate with Moldavia in energy and other fields.
