Justice Ministry And PACE Discuss Penitentiary Reform In Russia

Issues of penitentiary system reform and conditions in Russia's prisons and detention jails were on the agenda of the meeting between the leadership of the Russian Ministry of Justice and representatives of PACE, which was held in Moscow on Wednesday. First Deputy Justice Minister Alexander Karlin and co-reporters of the PACE Monitoring Commission, David Atkinson and Rudolph Bindig, took part in the meeting. The parties also addressed registration of public and religious organisations and prospects for the development of the judicial reform.
