Russia and Ukraine have practically settled the problem of Ukraine's debt for Russian gas, Yuri Komarov, member of Gazprom board, reported. According to RIA Novosti, $1.4B debt of Ukraine for Russian gas should be restructured into Naftagaz Ukraina securities and then submitted to the Russian government. Moreover, the issue of non-sanctioned syphoning of Russian gas by Ukraine was also almost settled, Komarov said. He noted that the Russian side had balanced out the volumes of gas deliveries to Ukraine, which put an end to the theft of Russian "blue fuel." Nevertheless, because of cold weather in Ukraine, the latter resumed non-sanctioned syphoning of Russian gas in small volumes, which are yet to be specified, Komarov noted.
