Large-scale naval exercises of the North Atlantic Alliance have begun in the Baltic Sea, according to a statement from the Finnish Navy published on its official website.
“The main autumn military drills Freezing Winds 25, led by the Navy, will take place in southern Finland in the Archipelago Sea and at the entrance to the Gulf of Finland from November 24 to December 4, 2025,” the press release stated.
The exercises will involve ships and personnel from the naval forces of Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, and the US, as well as the 1st Permanent NATO Mine Countermeasures Group. In total, around 5,000 service members and approximately 20 allied warships will participate. Fighter jets, helicopters, and maritime patrol aircraft will also join the maneuvers.
According to Finnish military officials, participants will practice the protection of maritime communications and critical infrastructure, defensive operations during amphibious landings, and joint fleet actions coordinated with coastal forces.
