Turkmenian President Saparmurat Niyazov refused the title of the lifelong President of the country. This was disclosed by him when addressing the delegates of the Doyen Council's Joint Session, of the National Council and all-nation movement "Vozrozhdeniye".
According to the President, he will proceed with his duties in accordance with the Constitutional decree adopted two years ago and envisaging that Niyazov should govern the country without any limitations of his presidential term. The President promised that he would return to the issue of elections in 2008.
Moreover, he refused all the three degrees of the "Golden Age" medal and declined to receive the title of the greatest Turkmenian writer, which were offered to him yesterday. "I do not want to give the name to myself. This is wrong," Niyazov said.
