Maidan for nothing: Ukraine won't join EU and NATO for 25 years

The head of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, said that Ukraine would not be able to join both the EU and NATO in the next 20-25 years.

According to DPA agency, Juncker excluded a possibility for Ukraine to become a member of the European Union and NATO in the next 25 years. "Ukraine will definitely not be able to become a member of the EU in the next 20 to 25 years, and not of NATO either," he said at The Hague.

On February 5, 2015, French President Francois Hollande said he would not support Ukraine's entry into NATO. "France is opposed to Ukraine's inclusion in the North Atlantic Alliance. I am saying this for the Russians, who are constantly concerned about this," the French president said.

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen also said that Ukraine had more pressing issues to deal with, so joining NATO is not a priority for the country.

To crown it all, British MPs said that Ukraine would not be accepted in the EU in the foreseeable future, even though the new Ukrainian government insists on the urgent need of the European integration.
