Concert Of Russian Academic Chamber Orchestra To Mark 1,700th Anniversary Of Armenian Christianity

A concert of the State Academic Chamber Orchestra of Russia conducted by Konstantin Arbelyan will be held at the Tchaikovsky concert hall in Moscow on December 3. It will mark the 1,700th anniversary of the adoption of Christianity by Armenia. The programme of the concert includes works by Modest Mussorgsky, Alexander Borodin and Aram Khachaturyan. Polish singer Ewa Podles (contralto) will solo. She is a vivid individuality in present-day opera art, with her vocal range embracing three octaves. The State Academic Chamber Orchestra of Russia is to celebrate its 45th anniversary this year. Well-known pianist and conductor Konstantin Arbelyan became its artistic director in 1991. After the advent of the young talented musician the repertory of the orchestra and the geography of its guest performances considerably broadened. In the 1990s the orchestra performed in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, the USA and Canada. Its performances were befittingly received by the public everywhere.
