Vladimir Putin has assured WWII veteran and pensioner Antonina Yemelyanovna Arzhanova that he will clear up why her pension has not been re-calculated. While speaking on the two main Russian television channels, RTR and ORT, the pensioner reported that she had served in the army in the war and that her pension was too small. The president reminded viewers that the average pension had risen by 23% and that WWII veterans and disabled people had received an even greater increases. The president expressed his opinion that the bodies responsible for re-calculating pensions had made a mistake in relation to Mrs. Arzhanova. Putin promised the pensioner that "this issue will be resolved."
