The verdict in the case of John Edward Tobbin, a U.S. citizen arrested in Voronezh for storing and distributing drugs, is expected to be handed down on Thursday. "It is planned to complete the questioning of the witnesses tomorrow morning and the court will decide on a verdict," the secretariat of the Leninsky regional court of Voronezh said on Wednesday. On the first day of the hearing Tobbin said he is completely innocent, Interfax repors. He said he had taken the matchbox (which contained the drugs) by chance at one of the nightclubs. Tobbin also said the drugs that were found in his apartment did not belong to him, but to his American acquaintance, who is currently outside Russia. Investigator Makarov said that “the case materials completely prove the guilt of the U.S. citizen.”
