Russian Government Sets Up Interdepartmental Biotechnology Commission

The government of the Russian Federation has set up an interdepartmental commission for biotechnology, RIA Novosti was told at the Government Information Department. One of the commission's main goals is the development of a concept for a state policy in the field of biotechnology and, on its basis, long- and short-term state programmes of development of Russian biotechnology, as well as the arrangement of control of their implementation. The chairman of the interdepartmental biotechnology commission is Ilya Klebanov, deputy chairman of the Russian government and minister for industry, science and technologies.
