Appearing at the Russian Security Council's session, President Vladimir Putin declared in favour of a notable improvement of the principles of arms trade. "It is only in the recent time that Russia has begun re-gaining the lost opportunities in the sphere of military technology cooperation and treating this endeavour from new economic and geopolitical positions," he said. He was confident that only a notable innovation of relevant principles and enhancement of arms trade effectiveness can lead to a breakthrough. That is why Putin suggested starting the process with impartial assessment of the possibilities of the Russian munitions factories and revising the priorities of pertinent research and design work. "It is essential to determine the administrative and economic instruments in the military-industrial complex and to count beforehand political consequences of the steps in this sphere," said the president.
