Russian Expert: Civil War In Afghanistan Impossible

With the present amount of international concern drawn to the situation in Afghanistan, a full-scale civil war in this country is absolutely impossible, head of the section of Afghanistan in the Institute of Oriental studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Viktor Korgun said during a round-table meeting on Afghanistan held in Moscow Wednesday. "The focus of acute conflict zoomed towards Indo-Pakistani border", he supposes. The Russian scholar has called the rapid and successful finishing of the Bonn conference on Afghani interim government "a miracle." The expert thinks that Russia must concentrate on rendering humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. He says that Russia should "exclude military involvement in the events in this country and deal with the problems of public health, education, roads and other humanitarian projects for Afghanistan ."
