2 Powerful Explosive Devices Rendered Harmless In Chechnya

The Chechen police have discovered and rendered harmless two powerful self-made explosive devices. They were found in the village of Chiri Yurt, Shali district, according to the staff of the Joint Group of Federal Forces in the North Caucasus. One of them was made of two rounds for a grenade launcher and a 82-mm mine, the other of 500 g of TNT and 120 rounds for a grenade launcher. Also found by policemen from the provisional police office in the suburbs of Nozhai Yurt, eastern Chechnya, was a sub-machine gun, a grenade launcher, two grenades and 173 cartridges of a 5.45-mm calibre. As RIA Novosti knows from the Russian federal interior ministry, 16 operations, including preventive ones, have been carried out in Chechnya over the last 24 hours. They exposed 394 violations of law, including 67 violations of the passport regime. Police forces have seized 2 grenade launchers, a sub-machine gun, 5 sporting guns, 70 mines and shells, 15 hand grenades, 13 rounds for a grenade launcher, over 2,000 cartridges and 165 kg of explosives, according to the interior ministry. 14 illegal mini oil refineries have been destroyed.
