The university's press service told RIA Novosti that the victims were a man — the head of the company that manufactured the test sample and who was not an employee of the university — and his underage daughter.

"An inquiry is currently underway to determine why she was on the premises in violation of safety protocols,"

the university reported.

Officials stated that three additional individuals were injured.

"All of the injured are currently in stable condition and are being transported to medical facilities in Perm. We extend our condolences to the families and loved ones of those who died,"

the Ministry of Territorial Security said.

Criminal Case Opened as Investigators Arrive on Site

The Investigative Committee launched a criminal case and clarified that the child killed in the blast was an eight-year-old girl. Investigators and forensic specialists are working at the scene, and judicial examinations have been ordered.

RBC requested comments from the regional office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and from the Perm National Research Polytechnic University.
