Russia’s Defence Minister, Sergei Ivanov, declared on Tuesday that Russia reserves the right to attack anywhere at any time to defend itself against international terrorism, including the right to attack any country which harbours terrorists who are preparing or have committed an act of violence against the Russian Federation.
His words come days after President Vladimir Putin declared that the tragic terrorist attack on a Moscow theatre was planned from outside Russia. Sergei Ivanov declared in an interview with Russian newspaper Izvestia, that “A war has been launched against us, without a face, without frontiers and without visible enemies”.
The country most suspected of harbouring terrorists which plan and perpetrate acts against Russia is Georgia, whose army is being trained by US armed forces.
