A little hard work, and human kindness, pays off

Todd Krampitz, was diagnosed with live cancer this past May.  He, his new wife, and his family put up two billboards asking for help in getting Todd a liver donor.
Without a donor, Todd’s life expectancy was unpredictable. Krampitz and his wife Julie also did national media interviews.

Quietly, a family came forward, offering the liver of a relative who had just died. They are not asking for publicity, nor are they asking for any monetary compensation.  Todd doesn’t even know the name of the family, as they want to remain anonymous. But their selfless act will bring life to Todd who is now recovering from the transplant operation.

The liver is the second most commonly transplanted major organ, after the kidney, according to the United Network for Organ Sharing. As of July 30, there were 17,471 people nationwide waiting for a liver transplant. Last year, 5,671 liver transplants were performed in the country.

The real heroes are the ones who give and ask nothing in return.
