Paris airport evacuated amid new cracks

Paris' Charles De Gaulle airport has been evacuated after cracking noises were heard in the roof.

It happens just a day after part of the futuristic-looking terminal collapsed, killing four people. The noises were heard on either side of the 30-metre section of Terminal 2E, which gave way on Sunday morning. The noises came after inquiries began into the cause of the collapse. A judicial investigation and technical inquiry have been launched. Investigations are likely to concentrate on faults in the design of the ultra-modern building or possible short-cuts taken in its construction.

Four people were killed in the structural collapse at a terminal at Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport, the commander of rescue operations said early on Monday. Reportedly, a Chinese and a Czech passenger are among the casualties. Another three people, including nationals from Cote d'Ivoire and China, are lightly injured in the aftermath of Sunday's disaster. On Sunday, authorities said five and possibly six people were killed when several tones of concrete, metal bars and glass panelling came crashing down on an arrival and departure passageway at the main Paris airport's showcase Terminal 2E.
