Does the USA want to clash Russia and the EU against each other?
The influential American newspaper The Wall Street Journal has arrived at a conclusion that Russia will clash with the European Union. Russian troops are still present in Transdniestria which in fact means they are a occupation force there. The unrecognized republic of Transdniestria supported by Moscow maintains semi-legal armed groups of its own there. The American newspaper claims that there are numerous reasons to introduce European peacemaking troops into the republic.
The Wall Street Journal reports that in order to avoid confrontation between the Russian and EU troops, Moscow should immediately withdraw the troops from Moldova. Additionally, Transdniestria groups should disarm and Tiraspol as well as the capital of Transdniestria should reconcile itself to the status of being part of Moldova.
It is incredible that the influential newspaper that is so proud of its objectivity indulges in publications of such low standard. It is quite obvious that the article is a provocation. Are Russia and the EU about clash over Moldova?
It is an open secret that the European Union is considering sending its peacemaking troops to Moldova. The Netherlands, the OSCE chairman this year has suggested this idea. The OSCE, together with Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and Transdniestria is participating in negotiations on settlement of the conflict in Moldova. It was even reported that EU peacekeepers might enter the republic before the end of the year. However, many European politicians are not sure the EU should send its peacekeepers to Moldova. It should be mentioned that the USA immediately interfered into the conflict. Washington fears that it may be denied its say regarding the Moldavian problem; that is why it has warned the Europeans against further independent policy changes concering Moldova.
As it became known yesterday, July 25, Moldova Foreign Minister Nicolae Dudau said in an interview with Russia's news agency RIA Novosti that Moldova is thinking over further stay in the GUUAM regional organization (its members are Georgia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Moldova). Nicolae Dudau says that the organization was set up for economic cooperation of its members. Moldova has been its member since the formation, but now Chisinau is anxious about the effectiveness of the organization's cooperation mechanisms. European integration is the top priority for Moldova now, the Moldavian foreign minister says.
At present, America is logged in major conflicts with both Russia and China. With Russia, the conflict is in Ukraine, and with China, it is in Taiwan
