Moscow states its full support of afghan transitional administration

During the visit by Afghan Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullah Abdullah to Moscow, he was told that Russia fully supported the Afghan leadership, says the Russian Federation Foreign Ministry's statement distributed in the wake of the visit.

The statement notes that Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov assured his Afghan counterpart of Russia's readiness to "continue contributing to the state and economic development of a peaceful and independent Afghanistan and to actively participate in the corresponding international programs." In order to ensure the maximum efficiency of these processes, the ministers spoke at the talks in favor of developing multilateral cooperation of efforts by Russia, Afghanistan and other interested states in the implementation of priority economic and other projects in Afghanistan.

The negotiations "confirmed the mutual striving of the sides to comprehensively strengthen the relations of friendship and mutually beneficially cooperation, the full coincidence or closeness of positions of the two countries on a wide range of international or regional issues," the Russian Federation Foreign Ministry underlines.
