Obama Earns Four Times More Than His Russian Counterpart

US President makes $400,000 a year, which equates about 12 million rubles, or one million rubles a month. The earnings of Russian top officials pale in comparison. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev earned 3.3 million rubles ($110,000) last year. Vladimir Putin’s earnings in 2009 made up 3.8 million ($127,000).

Other officials of the White House in Washington do not live in misery either. Top officials of Obama’s administration receive $172,000 a year (over 5 million rubles a year).

Some Russian officials make a lot more than Obama and his assistants, though. For example, Yuri Trutnev, the Minister for Natural Resources and Ecology, earned 155 million rubles in 2009 (over $5 million). The wife of Vice Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov takes the prize with $21 million. For comparison, all officials of US administration – 469 people – earned the total of $38 million in 2009.

Who has never tasted bitter, knows not what is sweet. For example, Afghanistan’s Hamid Karzai makes only $525 a month.

The report about the incomes of Obama’s administration, which is published on the president’s website, says that Obama promised the nation to spend less, and so he fixed the salaries of the White House employees.
