Russian athlete sets record by shifting 190 ton boat

Famous Russian athlete Elbrus Nigmatullin set a new record on Tuesday after he moved a motor vessel “Ivan Kalita” which weighs 190 ton to a ten meter distance.

“Everything happened relatively fast, and I reached the goal I was aiming for,” Nigmatullin told the Interfaks, adding that the preparation process for the event took a lot longer.

According to Nigmatullin the hardest part was to straighten out the ship because the Moscow River ’s flow was constantly interfering with its position.

The athlete also said that an official petition has been forwarded to the Guiness Book of Records in order to register the achievement but so far no response has been made.

Elbrus Nigmatullin is the world’s vice-champion of extreme strength and a winner of four “Russia ’s Strongest Man” titles. One of his records includes pulling of two buses, each weighing 30 ton.
