Europa League: Superkid Zhano Ananidze works his magic

An amazing recovery by Spartak Moscow, scoring three second-half goals to turn around the match against Basel in Switzerland was the high point of the evening, the last goal coming from Ananidze. CSKA Moscow also won away, while Zenit Saint Petersburg went down to a late goal at Young Boys Berne and Rubin Kazan lost comprehensively at home.

Spartak Moscow went into the bootroom 2-0 down at half time in Basel, after the home side scored with goals from A. Frei after 36' and Streller before the break on 41'. Spartak came back with three second-half goals to take the lead to Moscow - D. Kombarov 61' Dzyuba 70' and superkid Jano Ananidze 90+2', arguably the best left winger in the world.

CSKA Moscow also had an excellent away result in Salonika, Greece, winning at PAOK's stadium 1-0, goal from Necid after 29'.

Less fortunate was Zenit Saint Petersburg, losing to a late goal from Mayuka on 94´ after going into the break ahead of Young Boys Berne (Switzerland), after the strike from Lombaerts on 20'. Immediately after the interval, the home side reacted with the 1-1 coming on 46', goal by Lulic.

Rubin Kazan was the fourth Russian team, the only to play at home, and has it all to do next week, taking a 0-2 home defeat to Twente Enschede, after away goals from De Jong 77' and Wisgerhof, 88'.
