What a game! 12 world champions on the field produced a spectacle with no less than 13 yellow cards and one sending-off yet with five goals for Barça to Real Madrid's nil. First blood to Guardiola in the inevitable duel with the Special One, José Mourinho.
The game got underway with goals from Xavi and Rodríguez on 10' and 18' respectively for the home side. The first of a glut of yellow cards came on 32' (Valdés, for Barcelona), followed by Real's Cristiano Ronaldo (33'), Villa (Barcelona) 34', Pepe (Real Madrid) 36', Messi (Barcelona), 45'.
José Mourinho made a change to his team at the interval, Diarra entering for Ozil on 45'. Real received another two yellows (Alonso, 51' and Casillas, 55'), while Villa added a brace of goals for Barça (55' and 58'). Mourinho tried to stem the tide, sending on Arbeloa for Marcelo on 60'.
Three more yellows for real, Ricardo Carvalho (71'), Sérgio Ramos (73') and Khedira (75') before Barcelona made changes on 76' (Bojan Krkic on for David Villa) and then on 87', Jeffrén and Keita substituting Rodríguez and Xavi. Pujol got another yellow (Barcelona), 80' and Jeffrén fixed the scoreboard at 5-0 on 90+1'.
There was still time for Ramos to get his second yellow card and subsequent red for Real Madrid , and for Xavi to be booked for the home club, both on 93'.
8 infractions for Real Madrid, five for Barcelona FC. A night to forget for Real, who limp back to Madrid thoroughly beaten, humiliated and hurting.
