Death in Moscow more expensive than life

One square meter at the Moscow cemetery costs more than an elite apartment!

Nearly $10,000 for a square meter is not the price for an apartment in down-town Moscow; it is the cost of acquiring a place at the Vagankovskoe Cemetery.

“Will sell a spot at the Vagankovskoe Cemetery – 4 'squares' – for $37, 000,” declares the offer published in a free advertisement paper by an opportunistic Moscow resident Viacheslav. Creative businessman explains that he is representing interests of a friend whose uncle is buried at this cemetery.

“This is still cheap!” Viacheslav tells Komsomolskaya Pravda, “It’s just that there is a serious money issue. This is simply an ordinary grave. So what if a man was buried there 25 years ago? The law states that one can re-burry on the same spot after 13.5  years. Almost two terms have already passed. There is probably nothing left in there by now!”

The municipal service “Ritual” confirmed that it is indeed possible to sell a place in Vagankovskoe Cemetery if the seller has a legal right to that place. But the transaction has to be made in accordance with the cemetery management’s rules, so that everything is completely fair.
