The Russian roulette keeps spinning, killing and destroying

According to a legend, the roulette was invented by the French philosopher and mathematician in 1655. The original roulette had a revolving wheel whose edge was marked off with alternating slots in red and black. The numbers from 1 to 36 were scattered about the slots at random.

In 1842, the Frenchman Francois Blanc added another section to the roulette. It had the number “0” or the “zero” on the green background. Blanc was rumored to have sold his immortal soul to the Devil in exchange for that invaluable tip.

You can find evidence of a diabolic plot with regard to the origins of roulette by adding up the numbers from 1 to 36. In consequence, you will have 666, the so-called “number of the beast.”

By the bye, the zero, which was put to use by Blanc, is the principal source of income of a casino. A player’s bet will go to a casino if the ball of roulette comes to rest at the zero. The prince of Monaco judged Blanc’s invention on its merits. He made him a general manager of Monte Carlo’s casino network.

The Francois Blanc roulette is usually referred to as the “French roulette” or “European roulette.” Practical Americans furnished the invention with one more slot – the double zero – after roulette was brought to the U.S. The owners of Las Vegas casinos must be immensely thankful for that addition because it generates their huge profits.

The basic rules of roulette are quite simple. A small ball is spun to come to rest finally at one of the 37 or 38 compartments, indicating the winning number, which can be odd or even, red or black. A player’s winnings equal his stake multiplied by two if a player should guess the color of a compartment the ball points to. If a player bets on a particular number, and that number wins on the “wheel of fortune”, a player gets the winnings equaling his stake multiplied by 35. All stakes go to a casino if the ball indicates the zero.

Strategy otherwise known as finance planning and risk management is a must for playing any game, especially a game of chance.

You need to determine the size of your stakes beforehand. You also need to make up your mind whether you are going to call it a day right after winning or how much you are prepared to spend on gambling. By enforcing clear-cut limitations you will be able to make a small profit out of roulette. Yet a profit cannot be guaranteed since you normally run a high risk of spending over the limit.

Men and women who play roulette have long tried to come up with sure-fire methods of cheating on the casino and winning at all times. However, experts in gambling industry and casino staff are unanimous in their verdict: there is no such thing as a 100% winning method for roulette players. Anybody who claims that he concocted yet another magic technique is either a swindler or charlatan or both. Speaking about roulette, Albert Einstein, the author of the theory of relativity, put it this way: “You can beat roulette only by stealing chips from the table.”
