Fahrenheit 9/11 and the Bi Partisan report

I think Michael Moore is due an apology from those who spoke out against him

Last night, I got an e-mail from a friend who had just seen the movie Fahrenheit 9/11. I’ve known this person for awhile now, and I could clearly see she was distressed at what she had seen in the movie.

About 10 minutes after that, the Bi-partisan committee's findings were released to the press. My friend had not seen that yet.

While I was writing my news breaking story for PRAVDA.Ru, I had time to reflect on the e-mail, the news story, and Michael Moore. I had to examine my own thoughts and decide the magnitude of the imports of all three.

It takes a lot to unhinge my friend like the movie Fahrenheit 9/11 did. She was emotionally drained.

Meanwhile, when I was reading the bi-partisan report, I felt my own stomach dropped. Writing the article was difficult for me emotionally.

I can also hear the words of my wife echoing through my mind, when the Moscow Theater had been over taken by terrorists. My wife just sat there and said: “Oh my God”. Which was pretty much the same reaction to the 9/11 tragedy here in the US. I had a number of things going through my mind as I wrote.

Michael Moore's detractors were quick, at super sonic speed, to discredit Fahrenheit 9/11, and to accuse Michael Moore himself, of lying, exploitive journalism, fear mongering, half truths, and vivid imagination. A sanctimonious cry rose from the land: “It did not happen the way Moore said it did.”

Now what are the detractors going to say after the bi-partisan committee put into writing what happened – and the report only serves as validation of Michael Moore's version. We can't really stand up in indignation and declare the committee of being charlatans. No doubt someone will try, we can be sure of that – or they will claim the committee was Michael Moore's paid lackeys.

9/11 and the Moscow theater were tragedies of equal proportion, let's make no mistake about it. But there are two major differences. Russia never knew the attack was coming, America did know the attack was coming. President Putin authorized immediate action by the Russian swat team. President Bush continued reading a book to some school children. Russia developed protocols for intelligence gathering, and action, to prevent such an event from ever happening again. President Bush and the US Congress can't get around to, even after 3 years since the tragedy, putting in protective measures.

My friend's reaction is a “two thumbs up” movie review for me – and I will see Fahrenheit 9/11. I will watch the movie with one thought in mind and that is the words of Thomas Kean, the Republican chairman, when he said "Every expert with whom we spoke told us an attack of even greater magnitude is now possible and even probable".

Personally, I think Michael Moore is due an apology from those who spoke out against him, and Fahrenheit 9/11. Why? Because Moore was publicly crucified for telling the truth. Happy flying, America.
