Stradivarius Violin Seized on Russian Border

 A case containing the violin was found on a luggage rack in a bus going to Finland
On May 14, the chief of customs in the Russian city of Murmansk, Ivan Kraskulenko, reported the finding of a precious violin made in the early 18th century. The instrument is believed to be have been made by famous violin-maker Antonio Stradivarius.

According to the customs officer, the case containing the violin was found on a luggage rack in a bus going to Finland. While examining the case with witnesses, a maker's mark was discovered inside the case. It was "Antonio Stradivarius, 1713". The find was withdrawn and sent to St. Petersburg for an examination.

A 16-year-old schoolgirl was attempting to take the instrument out of the country. She confessed to her intention as soon as the contraband violin was discovered by customs officers.
