Cinema Without Walls Festival in Moscow - 25 September, 2002

An International Film Festival on the problems of invalids - "Cinema Without Walls" - starts in Moscow. Its official opening will take place on Thursday with the film "Talks" (Great Britain).

It shows a society where disability is a norm, the invalids make up a majority and lead an active life, while able-bodied citizens are in a minority. In the next days of the festival, each programme will be devoted to a special theme: Child Disability, Education and Integration of Invalids, Formation of a Positive Opinion in Society Concerning Disability Problems. Till September 29 a total of 65 documentaries, feature films and animation cartoons will be shown. They have been selected from among the 135 applications received from twenty countries.

This is the first festival of this kind held in Russia. It has been organised by the Regional Invalids' Organisation "Perspective" under the aegis of the Moscow government and the International Rehabilitation Organisation.

At the closing of the festival, the Australian film "Dance to My Song" will be shown.
