Valery Todorovsky's film "Lover" highly appraised at San-Sebastian film festival - 25 September, 2002

Spectators and critics highly appraised Russian director Valery Todorovsky's film "Lover" at the 50th film festival in San-Sebastian.

"Lover" is a wise and original film, famous film critic Angel Fernandes-Santos wrote in the Pais newspaper, pointing to Oleg Yankovsky's subtle and accurate acting. The critic is glad and surprised by the success of the Russian movie some years after the success of Pavel Chukhrai's remarkable film "Thief". San-Sebastian misses brilliant films, based on the traditions of the Soviet cinema, Fernandes-Santos said.

The jury selected 220 films for the prestigious festival in San-Sebastian. However, there are no obvious favourites among the films. The results of the film competition will be announced on the closing day of the festival, September 28.
