Man collects 29 mummified bodies in his apartment. 46381.jpegA specialist from Russia's Nizhny Novgorod was arrested for exhuming bodies from graves on the territory of the region. Police officers found 29 mummified bodies in his apartment. It became known later that the man was conducing his blood-chilling activities in other regions of the country too.

This was stated by the head of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Vladimir Stravinskas, the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper reports.

"We determined that the defendant traveled to the Moscow region as well to uncover the human remains from graves. A criminal case was filed against the man in connection with the abuse of the bodies of deceased individuals and places of their burial. We will do our best to ensure that the case is delivered to court in the first half of 2012. His case is extraordinary, wild and  exceptional. Nothing like that has ever happened in the history of criminal science in Russia," the official said.

Speaking about the possible participation of the perpetrator in similar crimes in Russia's Vladimir region, the official stated: "Here, it goes about the mummified corpses. He would at times unearth a grave, take a look at the human remains and then bury the body again. This an act of desecration committed over a grave, but it is categorized differently from the legal point of view. Now I am talking about only the abuse of the bodies," Fontanka.ru website said.

Anatoly Moskvin, a 45-year-old male, formerly a historian, was arrested in November 2011 during the investigation of cases of the desecration of dead bodies, Pravo.ru. website said. Numerous blasphemous actions were committed over graves and bodies of the deceased in 2010-2011 at the cemeteries of Nizhny Novgorod. Twelve criminal cases were opened in connection with the outrageous crimes that caused an extensive coverage in the media. Moskvin was arrested within the scope of the investigation of those cases.

Police officers found a whole collection of the bodies of young women in the man's apartment. Most likely, the bodies had been exhumed from several cemeteries, officials said. About 30 mummies, which the police discovered in Anatoly Moskvin's apartment, were the bodies of young females from 15 to 25 years of age.

The man was collecting dead bodies to make mummified dolls from them, news agencies said.

Surprisingly, the man was reputed to be a highly educated individual, almost a genius. Moskvin knows 13 foreign languages and studies a unique section of history - he is a necropolist. The researcher visited more than 750 cemeteries and was going to publish a book - a guide to the cemeteries of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Most likely, the man will have to complete his work in jail.

The man would penetrate on the territory of local cemeteries at night. He would unearth the dead bodies and put the remains in plastic bags, which he would then take to his apartment, Dni.ru said.

Meanwhile, the identification of dead bodies, which the "local historian and puppeteer," Anatoly Moskvin used for his experiments, is to be completed by the end of January 2012, reports NIA Nizhny Novgorod. It has been established that Moskvin has been conducting his experiments since 2000.

The perpetrator cooperates with detectives. He can be described as an intellectually developed person. "His moral constituent is in a different dimension. He does not see anything negative about his actions. He was moved with the desire to bring the dead back to life in his mind, as he said," Vladimir Stravinskas said.
