Unique books let blind children sense that rain is wet

kid with a bookLibrarians of a municipal library in Russia's Veliky Novgorod have set up a unique publishing house.

Publishers make books that allow blind children sense what water, snow and other natural phenomena are to the touch.

The technology used at the publishing house is unique; none of the books has a duplicate. Making such a book is a really laborious and hard process. The idea of making such tangible books comes from Finland. However, publishers in Veliky Novgorod make their books of flax not traditional paper used for making such books in Finland.

Authors of such unique books pay attention to every detail and think everything over carefully. So, they let blind children feel that elk hair differs from the hare fur by the touch, that rain is cold and pools are wet.

The unique publishing house has already put out a book of children verses and a book about animals of Russia's North-West region. They are now working on a book of fairy tales, a really hard task to do.
