Parts of ancient meteorite found in Antarctica

American scientists found splinters of a very old meteorite in Antarctica. They claim this meteorite 250mln years ago could have provoked extinction of many life form on Earth. As a result of that catastrophe the planet lost about 70% of ground animals and plants and around 90% of sea life forms, writes "Science".

Consequences of that catastrophe could have been much more serious that those of 65mln years ago, when dinosaurs disappeared.
