Sunday Times exposes plot to assassinate Russian President The British weekly The Sunday Times runs a story today which allegedly uncovers a plot to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin while he was on a foreign tour
The newspaper claims that Scotland Yard detectives arrested two Russian nationals in London after a tip-off by an ex-KGB agent living in London.
The men, who had been staying at the Hilton London Metropole Hotel, had been asking other Russian nationals for financing and apparently told one source that they intended to kill President Putin with a sniper's bullet "while he is on one of his foreign trips".
